Momjan - Momiano: "SAN MAURO... cuisine is all home-made and genuine combined with family hospitality... "

SAN MAURO - Sinkovic’s gastronomic offer consists mostly of Istrian specialties. Their cuisine is all home-made and genuine: starting from appetizers (Istrian prosciutto, cheese), homemade pasta (pasta, gnocchi, ravioli ...) combined with various traditional sauces (from both meat and vegetables)…

At the property you can also taste the Istrian ox (Boskarin) specialties… homemade cakes such as: fritole, krostule, local waffer, Tartufone “San Mauro” or Raffaello ”San Mauro” and much more…

On top of that you have to add top quality Sinkovic wines: Moscatel, Terran, Malmsey and more…

The first thing I tasted during our morning conversation was Sinkovic sweet Moscatel…

Mr. Libero kept asking me if I was hungry and what he could offer me to combine it with my glass of wine… and he said to have some homemade cakes I may like… and I choose to taste Beignet…

It was an experience… while taking those tasteful Beignet he was telling me there are more keep taking them if you like them :)…

And from time to time during our conversation his sons Sergej and Patrick were joining us… people working on the property were coming to ask Mr. Sinkovic how to do certain things and at certain point Mr. Sinkovic said… let me show you one thing right now… it is my cellar

Family Sinkovic reconstructed traditional Istrian house where they can host 25 people, but the restaurant and the wine cellar are the places for real gastronomy lovers… There you can taste most of their homemade products. In addition to the tranquility and the peaceful nature with nice views, you can experience Sinkovic Muscatel wine, second to none in Istria.

In addition to wine, brandy and liqueurs, they produce variety of jams (plums, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, quince ...), syrup, olive oil, beer and much more...

During the summer, there are also 35 seats on the terrace where you can combine the smell and taste of delicious food and wine with the smells and flavors of north western Istrian countryside…

...and above all in summer you may enjoy the breathtaking sunset view towards Savudrija Bay...

All the above is located in San Mauro courtyard… the terrace, the Jack and Gigi wooden barrel house, and the entrance to the family Sinkovic wine cellar where Mr. Libero invited me...

The first thing I enjoyed was the smell reminding my grandfather’s Mate wine cellar. There is a small laboratory where his particular wines are made.

His sons Sergej and Patrick are both doing their best to continue the family tradition and Sergej completed his degree at Istituto Agrario San Michele all’Adige - the academic centre for agricultural studies and training, the only one of its kind in Italy.

Today it is named „Fondazione Edmund Mach“, and is an agrarian institution and wine academy located in the Province of Trento. It was founded in 1874 by Edmund Mach. The enologist Edmund Mach was the academy's first director and the institute developed a reputation for work in viticulture and enology.

Mr. Libero, and his sons Sergej and Patrick could surprise the finest wine lovers with what they are able to make… and all that is combined with an easy family atmosphere… SAN MAURO is like a grandparent’s courtyard… this is what you should expect…
